Conflict is inevitable, but it doesn’t have to be detrimental, says mediator Kristen Hall. When a breakdown in communication causes the wheels to fall off, mediation gives us the tools to get everyone moving forward again. When we understand where conflict comes from, we can then take the next step to change the conversation. For example, arguments over process (your way v. my way) become conversations about our shared goals and how we can reach them together.
Kristen’s goal as a mediator is to empower people to resolve their conflicts through improved communication. As a member of the Iowa Association of Mediators, the American Academy of ADR Attorneys and the Iowa State Bar Association, she specializes in family and civil rights mediation. She has also worked extensively with local non-profits and was twice recognized by the Junior League of Des Moines for her servant leadership.
